![]() ![]() Funny enough though even when wet inside my hands still did not get cold. The only reason I didn't give these 5 stars is because after a while of moderate to high activity my hands would sometimes sweat. The gloves are very light for how warm they are, and I find the glove's features very useful (secondary wrist strap, removable liner, carabiner loop, ease of tightening and loosening at wrist). It would be interesting to see how far I could push these gloves with liners. With that said, the coldest temperature I've used these in is -17C while snowboarding and my hands were neither too cold or too warm. But this is an excellent piece perfect for lift skiing or other cold-weather pursuits that don't generate a lot of heat. My advice is if you get cold hands often, first make sure your TORSO IS WELL INSULATED before blaming gloves for cold hands. I am a pretty tough grader and don't give a lot of 5-star ratings. Of course hand warmth varies from person to person but I personally found these gloves very very warm, so much that if I used it above -10C my hands would start sweating immediately. ![]() Looking at the recent reviews I can't say I relate. I have used these gloves for a full winter season now and finally decided to leave a review. This is why it's treasured by climbers and mountain bikers.īeta AR is the only hardshell in Arc'teryx line-up offered with the DropHood, by the way. We loved its warmth, weather resistance, and durability. Since the hood is mostly down during high output activities when it's not that inclement, Beta AR is more likely to be the better option for it. Arc'teryx consistently makes some of the highest-performance winter gear, and the Fission SV is an all-around masterpiece. In the end, this mostly boils down to the intended use. If it'll be down most of the time, then a Beta AR will probably be more comfortable and convenient. If the hood will mostly be up, then the StormHood of Beta SV is very likely to be more pleasing than the DropHood of Beta AR. It combines the proven performance of Fortius 1.0 with a waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX. In short, base your decision on the type of the hood you like before anything else. The Fission SV Glove is the warmest offering from Arcteryx. Although Beta AR and SV have their differences in face fabrics, their differences in the hoods (StormHood of Beta SV vs DropHood of Beta AR) will play a much larger role in your satisfaction with these jackets. The Fission SV is the most excellent glove available if you need something warm and protected for skiing at a cold resort or any other sport. ![]()
